In rural Durango, Basque Country, only 30 mins from Bilbao
Local produce on sale
We have a range of locally-made jams, marmalades, pickles and honey for sale. These are all made by ourselves or neighbours and using local organically-produced fruit and vegetables in the Duranguesado area.
Our neighbours Amaia and her family on the other side of bend going towards Durango have a small, limited production txakolí vineyard ('Arritzola') which you are welcome to arrange to visit. They sell by the bottle or case, and also make a type of 'orujo' or liqueur. Award-winning sheep's milk Idiazabal cheese from the 'Txirri' label in Abadiño, is on sale at the vineyard (Gold medal at the World Cheese Awards in 2009, various awards both international and local since then). It may also be possible to visit the dairy and watch cheese-making.
